Clam Gardens in the Sea
In recent years, the state of Maine has experienced an astounding decline in clam populations across much of its intertidal ecosystems. The Passamaquoddy community at Sipayik has been particularly affected by this decline, with reduced food security and income for tribal clammers. In response, tribal leaders have teamed up with various local organizations to implement a community calm gardening approach to replenish the once abundant clam flats surrounding Half moon Cove.  Shot for Downeast Fisheries Partnership, and Sunrise County Economic Council.
